The data is the data — and we follow where it leads us. This allows us to have a greater ability to identify unicorns because we eliminate those startups that will never become unicorns.
Our approach is working. TRAC Fund I, our earliest vintage fund launched in May 2020, includes 46 investments. To date, the failure rate among portfolio companies in vintage 2020 funds is more than double that of TRAC Fund I. When it comes to driving returns, TRAC Fund I currently has 8 companies (22% of Fund I AUM) that are “On-TRAC” to become Unicorns and Power Law winners (~22% versus 6% for the industry).
